Shark Cage Diving Tour
Usually an early rise! The trip to the village of Gansbaai is approx 2.5 hours from Cape Town.
The trip normally begins at 08h00 or 10h00 in the morning from Kleinbaai harbour, which is 2 km along the coast from the village of Gansbaai, but times may vary due to the tides and expected sea conditions. After a continental breakfast and a safety briefing , you board the boat which takes about a 20 minute trip before it anchors. After dropping anchor, they begin attracting Great Whites with a specially formulated ‘Chum’ (a kind of blood and fish mixture).
Once the Great Whites arrive, you will have the opportunity to photograph these awe-inspiring animals feeding at the surface, right alongside the boat. This is when you enter the cage!
- All diving equipment is supplied. All wetsuits are new and leak-free. The new 7mm wetsuits are easy to get into.
- Should you decide not to go into the water, you can still have magnificent views from the top deck of the boat, I usually just snap away with my camera at all the action down below!
- Price is still the same for ‘non-divers’
- A variety of breadrolls, cool drinks, fruit & other snacks will be provided on board.
Where the boat goes: The islands and Shark Alley itself are teeming with life. Cape Fur Seals, Jackass Penguins, and a wide variety of sea birds are commonly seen from the boat. From July to November, Southern Right Whales are spotted almost every day as well! Dolphins are sometimes sighted.
After an approx 3-4 hour trip, you return to the harbour and you can then enjoy a hot shower, coffee, tea or hot chocolate before we make our way back to Cape Town. We can stop at a farm stall for refreshments..PLUS a possibility of seeing Southern Right Whales on route!
